Although you may have a positive pregnancy test, an ultrasound is the best way to confirm your pregnancy and determine its viability. If you test positive on the pregnancy test administered at Focus Women’s Center, you may be offered a free, limited obstetric ultrasound as part of your Pregnancy Verification and Consultation appointment.

At Focus Women’s Center, we use ultrasound to confirm 3 things:

• that the pregnancy is located inside the uterus where it needs to be to survive
• whether or not the pregnancy has a heartbeat
• the gestational age of the pregnancy (how far along you are)

What is an Ultrasound?

An ultrasound is a procedure that uses sound waves to view images inside the body.
Focus Women’s Center provides limited obstetric ultrasounds to our patients free-of-charge. No insurance is necessary.

At FWC near Fox Lake & Pistakee Highlands, Il we use two types of obstetric ultrasounds: abdominal (scanning over the abdomen) and transvaginal (scanning done inside the vagina) to view the pregnancy. Depending on your situation, we may recommend both an abdominal ultrasound and a transvaginal ultrasound or just an abdominal ultrasound.

After your appointment, ultrasound images will be sent to our Medical Director for evaluation, and we will inform you of his interpretation and recommendations. In some cases, we may recommend a repeat ultrasound with us.
